Older child adoption

I have been asked to share some of my experiences with Christina to others who are interested or in the process of adopting an older child. I will probably do it in a series of posts, e.g. language, food, academic issues, attachment, discipline, religion, etc. Please keep checking in over the next few weeks!

i was hoping you would write a few things about adopting older children especially about attachement with you, your husband and the children.did she had any serious problem with you or did she got along better with your husband .we have some friends that had major problems because the child was more attached to the husband

Yes they did have some problems. The main source of the problems was removed a few years ago. Since then Christina has grown into a beautiful person not only on the outside but on the inside where it counts the most. Sometime forces outside of the home and even from within the family can cause great damage to a child. I thank God for how far He has brought Christina. I am so proud to have her as my Granddaughter. I look foward to having her here on spring break to start teaching her to sew. I feel it is a privilege to have her want to follow in my footsteps of sewing.
